Have you ever done something foolish? You mess up so badly, and then can’t believe that you done it. You kick yourself and feel horrible about it? I’m sure your nodding your head yes, and I’m holding up both hands on this one. We’ve all done something we are ashamed of. And if your like me, it still comes back to bite you. Every now and then satan likes to bring up my past mistakes. And if I don’t stop the thoughts the minute he throws them up at me, I’m miserable about it for days. One thing that I have learned is this: if you have asked for forgiveness and you repent from it, you’re not condemned for it! God doesn’t remember it! The Bible says that “As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.”
Now there’s a difference between asking for forgiveness and repenting. Asking for forgiveness is when you tell God your sorry and ask Him to take it away. To repent means to turn away from that sin and not continue doing it. How many times have we asked for forgiveness and then we find ourselves doing it again? And again? We can’t get true victory from that sin unless we repent.
Chapter 14:1 says: “The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.”
To me when I read this, I can’t help but wonder how anyone can say this. How can anyone say there isn’t a God. Just walk outside and you can see the glories of God everywhere. Look at yourself, we are made in His image. But there are people who say this, there are people who believe it. I have heard many pastors say, that our actions should speak louder than our words. People should know that we are Christians by our actions. The Bible says that we will known by our fruit. Gal 5:22 says: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.” I’ve also heard it said many times that we may be the only Jesus that person will ever know. What fruit are you bearing today?
In verse 2 it says: “The Lord looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.”
He is looking to see if you are seeking after Him. He wants you to seek Him. Give your whole heart, your whole life to Him, not just part of it. You wouldn’t want your spouse to give you just a part of themselves, you want them to be true to you. It’s the same thing with God. Don’t give him just part of you. Give your all. Let Him see a heart that seeks Him. You won’t regret it!

Erin
