If God would have told me 10 years ago every detail and circumstance I would go thorough I probably would have laughed and said, “Yeah right God. Do you have me confused with someone else?”
If He would have told me, I would have had a to go through my husband’s deployment and have to raise my 1-year-old son alone for two years, go through the terrible two’s alone! (yikes!) become a youth leader, stand in front teenagers and teach, teach a women’s bible study at church on a wed night, learn how to bake cakes and teach in front of strangers on a weekly basis, open up a church service with prayer and lead worship, write a children’s book and poetry book and countless other situations I would have just given up right then! It would have completely overwhelmed me if God showed me the main picture of where my life was then, and where it is now, and everything in between. Especially for a shy, dependent girl like me, who liked to be in background and definitely did not talk in front of people.
Psalm 32:8 says, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you.”
Wow! What a promise. You see God knows the majority(ok probably all of us) would freak out if we knew the whole plan that God has for us and what He can accomplish through us if we will let Him and listen to His instruction.
It is scary to step out and do what God wants us to do. Our God is not a God of convenience, He wants to stretch you and use the situations you go through to be moving you forward and help you grow more in faith and in your relationship with Him.
Does it get any easier to step out in faith? Is it less scary? For me, no. But it is easier to trust Him and say yes each time. You can’t imagine the blessings that He has in store for you, if we will just listen and obey and do it. Don’t just stand there, do something!
If you have been feeling that gentle, ok, in my case it’s usually a swift kick in the behind (I’m stubborn, but I’m working on that.)prompting by the Holy Spirit to step out, then be encouraged today. He has promised that He will instruct and teach you, and be with you the whole way, with every step. I don’t know about you, but I’m glad that He has his eye upon me. 😉
Hugs,
Erin
