I love to read Psalms. Especially when I’m reading and I’m reminded of worship songs. Did you know that a lot of our songs we sing in Church is taken directly from Psalms? Sometimes word for word? There is a song that pops in my head as I read our Scriptures for today.
Verse 3-6 says: “Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, Nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive blessing from the LORD, And righteousness from the God of his salvation. This is Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him, Who seek Your face.”
Did you recognise the song? It’s Give us Clean Hands. It goes: “So give us clean hands, give us pure hearts
Let us not lift our souls to another. Give us clean hands, give us pure hearts, Let us not lift our souls to another. Oh God let us be, a generation that seeks, seeks your face, oh God of Jacob.”
I love worship. It’s one of my favorite things to do. To go before the Lord and to praise Him for everything that He has done for me, to worship Him. To be in His presence. There’s just something about giving Him everything, giving Him all of ourselves. There’s nothing better. There’s nothing better than praising the Lord. There’s freedom in worship.
How many times are we speaking and singing the Word and not realizing it? I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve sung a song then found it later reading the Bible. When shouldn’t it be the other way around? We should be reading and studying the Word so much that when we hear a song we should be able to say, I know where that is! We need to have the Word deep inside our hearts.
So I encourage you to dig into the Word this week. Set aside some time to spend some time worshipping Him and studying the Bible. You won’t regret it!
Hugs,
Erin
