This morning, after reading this chapter I was at a loss of words. I know, it doesn’t happen very often, me not having anything to say. For those who have not read the whole chapter yet, it is talking about an assurance of God’s blessing on the king. But as I was praying, God reminded me of making scripture personal.
Someone once told me that when I’m praying, to pray by reading the Word out loud. But not just stop there, as your reading the Word make it personal. Put yourself into it. Did you know that you can do that? You can take a promise from God and make it personal. This may seem like a small thing, and at first, I thought just a little odd reading it out loud like that, but I tried it, and it makes sense!
I will give you an example: Isaiah 53:5 says this: “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.” I love this verse. I claim this verse anytime me or anyone I know is sick. Jesus took every sin imaginable onto Himself when he hung on the cross. He also took my sickness, your sickness. So if He took it then, and we know that He has Victory over sin and death, than know that you are already healed! He already paid the price for it. So when you’re praying, tell God, “Your word says, that by your stripes, I am healed.” Put yourself in it! Claim the promises of God for yourself, but also have faith when you claim them. Something happens when we speak the Word the of God with faith out of our mouths. It’s powerful!
Let’s take the first few verses of our Chapter today. “The king shall have joy in Your strength, O Lord; And in Your salvation how greatly shall he rejoice! You have given him his heart’s desire, And have not withheld the request of his lips.” Okay, let’s personalize this and I want you to read this out loud. “I shall have joy in Your strength, O Lord; and in Your salvation how greatly shall I rejoice! You have given me my heart’s desire, and have not withheld the request of my lips.”
Did you say that out loud? Come on, did you? Did that lift you up? It should! I shall have joy in Your strength O Lord. I can’t do anything on my own strength. If I do, I will fail. I must have God’s strength, and what joy you have when you know you are not doing it alone! In your salvation I shall rejoice! Thank you God for saving me! That should have you smiling right now! You have given me my heart’s desire, and have not withheld the request of my lips! God hears me, and if I’m in His will, His desires are my desires. God’s not going to keep His desires from you!
I hope this encouraged you today. I know that it has me. Put your faith into action. Speak God’s Word out loud, over your life!
Hugs,
Erin
