Why do we make it so hard to give 100% of our selves to God? What is it about us as humans that we just can’t seem to let go of our control? Now I’m not saying the Christian walk is easy, because I would be lying. We all struggle with something, we all have problems that come our way. But God has given us everything. He gave us life, our family, our spouses, our children. He has given us the ultimate gift of all: salvation. We don’t deserve it, but Jesus went to the cross and died for our sins. God has poured out blessings on us, He is our provider, He takes care of us. And all that He asks is that we follow Him 100%. That we give every part of ourselves to Him. If God has given us everything, why can’t we give Him all of us?
Chapter 16 is an amazing chapter. I urge you to read all of it. It’s verse after verse about how much God cares for us, and how awesome He is.
Verse 8 says: “I have set the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.”
Verse 10 says: “You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”
I’m on the worship team at my church. I open the service with announcements, scripture reading, prayer, and I also sing. Last night I let God use me in a way that I haven’t before. After scripture, I told the people what I felt like God wanted them to hear, and then later in the worship service, He told me to tell them something during the song. I’ve never done this before. I was scared, I was nervous, but I stepped out of my comfort zone and did it. As soon as I did, God’s anointing, (which is the presence of God) poured out on me and I couldn’t sing, I cried. People came to the alters, some were crying, some were just worshipping God in a way that I have never seen them do before. Then I felt such an intense joy and awe at God’s presence. When God pours out His anointing on you, when you have felt God’s presence, you come away with nothing but joy. No one can give you the joy and peace that God gives. Nothing compares. Nothing is as complete as God’s joy and peace.
These verses say that God has set forth a path of life. He know what direction you should go in. We can’t see the future, sometimes the unknown is scary. But if you keep God as your focus, you keep your eyes on Him, you will be able to travel to the unknown with peace. God would never do anything to hurt you. The world and sin bring hurt, not God. You can trust Him completely to guide you. He will never lead you wrong.
Today if you have never experienced that joy and peace in His presence, than I urge you to do so. Start praising Him, ask Him to pour out His anointing on you. Give 100% of yourself to Him. You will never be the same again!
Hugs,
Erin
